Kortessem is centrally located in the Tongeren, Hasselt and Genk triangle. The Rootmolen is the only working watermill in Kortessem. You can stay in the mill building. Via the sun terrace, you are soon in the peaceful garden with pond, climbing frame, etc. You can shower in sun-heated water. The accommodation also has a dishwasher, washer, dryer, deep freezer, flatscreen-TV, video, PS3, WIFI, oven, microwave oven, bicycles, tourist maps, free electricity for your car/bicycle.The Rootmolen’s renovated grain mill has been active from 1284 till 1971. The granary on the first floor has been converted to a sunny apartment with modern lodging comfort. In front of the kitchen’s window is a south-terrace, of which the stairs bring you to the bridge. There you can see the lock, mill-wheel and garden with it’s pond, playground….
The Rootmolen is a landmark in Vliermaalroot, which is a small village of Kortessem. Our region Haspengouw is renown for it’s fruit. We have open space around here. In case you are fond of horses, enjoy the horse-riding center in our street. Many cycling tourists choose our region, because of the variation in the landscape.
